The Details of Implemented Projects by OCED

Empowerment is a process in which people of the community are aware of their needs and desires; they gain a kind of self-confidence and self-reliance to overcome those needs and, based on that, they can fulfill their goals. As a result, this institution provides empowerment through facilitating programs and training programs with trust, participation, solidarity, and awareness of the components of social capital in an organ in the community.

The Organization for Community Empowerment and Development signed a contract with the Ministry of Public Health in partnership with the Sanayee Development Organization to provide quality health services. Both organizations provided health services for a sum of 2,243,547 Afghan citizens in 15 districts of Faryab, 14 districts of Kabul, and 14 districts of Zabul provinces. Moreover, OCED implemented community nursing education programs (CHNE) and Community Midwives Education (CME) Programs in Kabul and Faryab provinces, in which 48 participants were enrolled in 24 monthly education programs and graduated as a skilled nurse and midwives in their respective communities for the provision of health services to women and children. The details on the BPHS projects implemented by the OCED are summarized as the following: 

Delivery of BPHS under Sehatmandi Project in Kabul Province: OCED was responsible for providing BPHS for around 42,500 people of Kabul province from January 2019 to December 2021. The services were provided in 3 districts of Paghman, Shakar Darah and Istalif through three BHCs.  

Delivery of BPHS under Sehatmandi Project in Faryab Province: 

OCED was responsible for providing BPHS under Sehatmandi contract in Faryab province from January 2019 to June 2021. The services have been provided for around 96,279 people in 4 districts of Faryab province through one CHC+ and 4 BHCs.

Delivery of BPHS under Sehatmandi Project in Zabul Province: 

OCED was responsible for providing BPHS under Sehatmandi contract in Zabul province from January 2019 to June 2021. The services have been provided for around 32,158 people in 4 districts of Zabul province through one BHC, one BHC+ and 3 SHCs.

Kabul Community Midwifery Education and Community Health Nursing Education Programs (CME/CHNE School): 

In 2019, OCED started community midwifery education and community health nursing education in Kabul province and 24-24 eligible students enrolled from the districts of Kabul where there was urgent need for female health workers. The schools successfully passed baseline, non-binding, and binding assessments and obtained excellent scores. 

Faryab Community Midwifery Education and Community Health Nursing Education Programs (CME/CHNE School): 

In 2019, OCED started community midwifery education and community health nursing education in Faryab province and 24-24 eligible students enrolled from the districts of Faryab where there was an urgent need for female health workers.
